About the Guest Speaker

Sally McPherson (alumna 1999 – 2022) | 2020 Colleges’ UQ Alumni Award winner

Sally is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Constructiv Technologies and Managing Director of Construction Financial Services. Sally is also a Co-founder of the iseekplant marketplace and a Board Member of Constructiv Technologies. Constructiv technologies employs 77 staff across Australia.

Sally and her brother, Drew, were born into construction and mining; they grew up alongside their parent’s quarrying business in Townsville, working in the company’s plant maintenance shed on their school holidays. After completing university at UQ, Sally started her professional working life in marketing with world-leading brands Microsoft and Samsung, and worked in Sydney and Shanghai. Her brother phoned her in 2011 with an idea to put a searchable database of construction equipment and services online. She loved the idea, and by 2013 she left her corporate job in Sydney, moved back to Brisbane and was working full-time at iseekplant.

iseekplant is now the world’s largest online marketplace for construction equipment and services and is backed by the Seven Group, Macquarie Bank and the QIC.

Students who are studying a Bachelor of Business majoring in marketing or a related field, are invited to meet Sally McPherson, in person, following the Commencement Dinner in the Freda Bage Room.
