Nominate an outstanding Women’s College Alumna

The annual Women’s College Alumnae Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of our alumnae, honouring both those well-established in their careers and those just beginning their professional journeys.

Since their inception in 2020, the Awards have highlighted the diverse accomplishments within our alumnae community, showcasing individuals who are making significant impacts locally and globally. These awards celebrate alumnae who are not only achieving personal success but also contributing to their communities and inspiring others.

The Women’s College Alumnae Awards categories

Young Alumna Award

This award recognises a young alumna (35 years or younger) who has made notable contributions through their professional or voluntary achievements, demonstrating a meaningful impact on a local, national, or international scale. As a role model, they have risen to prominence in their field, making a positive difference in their community.

Community Alumna Award

This award honours an alumna who has shown exceptional dedication to community service. Contributions can include, but are not limited to:

  • Significant time and resources dedicated to charitable or community efforts
  • Successful development and execution of community support initiatives.
Inspirational Alumna Award

This award celebrates an alumna with a powerful personal story that reflects resilience and determination. Their journey may include:

  • Overcoming extraordinary challenges to pursue their dreams
  • Facing and overcoming significant obstacles to inspire others and achieve their goals
  • Providing life-changing support to others or making an impactful contribution to their community.
The Women’s College Alumna of the Year Award

The pinnacle award, Alumna of the Year, recognises continuous and significant contributions across one or more areas:

  • Professional achievement: excelling in her career or as a leader in her field
  • Community leadership: through service or philanthropy
  • Inspirational leadership: through mentoring or creativity.

This recipient embodies the values of The Women’s College, empowering others to lead lives of meaning and purpose. Through their lifelong pursuits, they uplift and inspire those around them.

How to nominate

Please read the 2025 Alumnae Awards Guidelines. A nomination is submitted using this form on behalf of the nominee, with the following information required:

  1. A current professional resume of the Nominee.
  2. A written statement (maximum 600 words) detailing why the nominee deserves to be recognised and how they meet the criteria for the award.
  3. One written reference in support of the nomination.
  4. Any supporting evidence: awards, media clippings, videos, etc.

Nominations can be received from any member of the community, including Women’s College staff, Council members, students and other alumnae. Self-nomination is permitted with justification.

Other nomination information and criteria

  1. The alumna must have resided at The Women’s College for a minimum of one year.
  2. Members of the College Council who are alumnae are not eligible to be nominated.
  3. The Nominee must be willing to be nominated and her assistance may be sought in compiling the nomination.
  4. Awards will be made in four categories determined by the Awards Selection Committee: Young Alumna Award, Community Alumna Award, Inspirational Alumna Award and The Women’s College Alumna of the Year Award. The Nominee cannot receive more than one award.
  5. The Awards Selection Committee reserves the right to move applications into a different award category, based on the skills and experiences described in their application.
  6. Finalists must be available to attend the Women’s College Alumnae Awards Dinner to receive their award, unless extenuating circumstances prevail.
  7. Should Finalists be unable to attend the Dinner, they will be requested to make a short video statement to be shown at the presentation of the awards. The College will contact the Finalist who will be responsible for organising the video.
  8. Nominees are expected to demonstrate a willingness to give back to The Women’s College as part of their recognition. As a condition of the award, successful alumnae are required to make themselves available for promotional activities and guest speaker appearances at College events within the 12 months following the awards. This contribution ensures continued engagement with the College community and inspires future generations of women.
  9. Nominees are asked to consent to the use of images in Women’s College publications and promotional material.

Selection of award winners

The Awards Selection Committee is appointed by the College.

Presentation

The 2025 awards will be announced and presented at the Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards on Thursday 13 March.

2025 timeline

  • Nominations open on Thursday 26 September 2024.
  • Nominations close at 5:00pm on Wednesday 22 January 2025.
  • Judging will take place on Thursday 6 February 2025.
  • Awards will be announced and presented at the Academic Dinner & Alumnae Awards on Thursday 13 March 2025.
