Application Process

Due to high demand, it is advisable to apply online to The Women’s College as soon as possible. It is not necessary to wait until December/January for your confirmed university placement.

Before you start your application, please make sure you have:

  • Reviewed information about the College and application options (Resident or Associate) on the Why Women’s? page.
  • Read all the following information on this page, which will help you to understand the application process.
  • Have to hand all information you need to complete the application form.

Before submitting an application please check that you meet the following criteria:

  • A student who is a resident of The Women’s College must be enrolled in a full-time degree course at one of the following Brisbane universities: The University of Queensland (UQ), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Griffith University or Australian Catholic University (ACU). The College considers full-time study to be the equivalent of four subjects.
  • As a student, you must participate in your university course in a predominantly face-to-face mode.

The Women’s College offers residential contracts for the full academic year not on a semester basis.

We use a range of criteria to determine the order of offers for placement including:

  • Academic merit
  • Community engagement
  • Cultural achievements
  • Sporting achievements
  • Suitability to College life and potential to maximise the opportunity
  • Historical and family connection to College
  • Home location (priority to rural and regional areas)

At the point of submitting your online Application Form, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable $150 fee to cover administration costs with reviewing your application and interviewing applicants. This payment is processed via Westpac PayWay and is a secure e-commerce payment gateway. The Women’s College does not ask for or store your credit card details on this website. You will be redirected to pay this application fee. Once the College has received your application and confirmation of the payment processing, your application will move to the next stage.

2025 Applications

  • Residency: Applications are open. Places will be offered in rounds with the next round scheduled for Thursday 17 October.
  • Associate Membership: Applications are open. Places will be offered in rounds with the first round scheduled for Wednesday 16 October.

Four steps to apply

Personal statement

Prepare a 500-word personal statement that includes information about:

  • What you hope to gain and contribute as a resident or associate at The Women’s College.
  • What is important to you.
  • Your interests, your experiences and your leadership roles.
References

Think of two people you know well to provide references for your application to The Women’s College. Note: it is not appropriate that you ask family members or friends to act as referees.

  • One referee must be an academic referee, preferably a teacher from your most recent school who knows you well and can comment on your studies to date.
  • One referee needs to comment on your character, for example, an employer, a sports coach, or another teacher or staff member at your school.

Please email your two referees the Referee Letter and Report and request that they complete the form and email it directly to the College. Ask your referees to inform you when they have completed the form so that you are aware that your application process is finalised. There is no need for referees to provide any additional documentation to the College. Finally, please ensure you allow ample time for referees to complete the documentation. Note: If they intend to post the form back, you should provide them with a stamped envelope.

Your interview may take place if the references are not provided, but an offer from the College will be conditional on the receipt of suitable references.

Photo

In your application, you will need to provide us with a headshot photo. Your photo needs to be in colour and include only your head and shoulders.

Academic documents

If you have not yet graduated from high school at the time of your application, you will need to provide your two latest school reports/results.

If you have graduated from high school, please provide:

  • Your two latest school reports/results.
  • If available, your ATAR results/transcript.
  • If available, your university acceptance letter or letter of deferment.

If you have commenced university at the time of your application:

  • Please provide an unofficial copy of your university transcript.
Co-curricular involvement

During your application, you will need to let Women’s know about your involvement in co-curricular activities. Please reflect on your involvement in:

  • Sports
  • Cultural activities (e.g. music, drama, debating, art)
  • Community service

The online application form is a one-step process where you can review your application form before you submit. You can save and complete the form later or you can complete it at the same time and submit.

You will be prompted to upload the documents you have prepared, and answer a range of questions about your school, background, academic and non-academic achievements, and your university goals. Please take time to consider your approach to these questions.

When submitting the form, you will also be asked to pay a non-refundable $150 application fee (see the introduction section of this page).

Interview

Once your application has been submitted and your referee reports received, our Admissions Officer will contact you to arrange an interview. The Women’s College prefers to conduct interviews in person at the College; however, an online meeting can be arranged if you are unable to attend your interview in person.

Offer rounds

Your application will be considered in the next and subsequent offer rounds. If successful, you will be sent a place offer.

Acceptance of offer

To confirm your place, you will need to complete a Residency Agreement and pay a non-refundable deposit of $1,500, which is then deducted from your Term 4 fees.
