2023 Women of the World | Healthcare

Our Women of the World Q&A Series provides our students and young alumnae with the opportunity to hear from and engage with a panel of experienced women working in various industries.

Our most recent networking dinner in this series was focused on the field of Healthcare which was an overwhelming success for all attendees.

Facilitated by Deputy Senior Resident Assistant, Grete Gawthorn, the Q&A included the following panellists:

  • Izzy Graham (alumna 2013 – 2014) | Flight Nurse and Midwife, Royal Flying Doctor Service
  • Dr Rebecca Lyon (alumna 2002 – 2004) | Head, UQ Regional Training Hub Southern Queensland & Academic Lead, Toowoomba Regional Clinical Unit, School of Medicine, The University of Queensland
  • Dr Nina Petroff (alumna 1992 – 1994) | Consultant Psychiatrist, Bellmount House
  • Kaitlyn Spalding (alumna 2008 – 2010) | Occupational Therapy Lecturer, Griffith University & Advanced Occupational Therapist, STARS
  • Felicity Storie (alumna 2009 – 2010) | Mental Health Social Worker & Counsellor, Calming Mind Counselling Brisbane

Our panellists shared stories about key challenges for women in healthcare, gender disparities in pay and career advancement, underrepresentation in leadership roles and constantly evolving new technologies and approaches for the sector.

The Women’s College thanks Izzy, Rebecca, Nina, Kaitlyn and Felicity for their time and for passionately discussing working in healthcare with our inspired audience.

Our 2024 Alumnae Awards were also launched at this event.
